Cinema: The use of 'Pepper's Ghost' to bring back performers we've lost.

 


Roy Orbison (1936 - 1988) Holographic Tour 2018

A holographic version of the singer A stage tour by Roy Orbison - who passed away in 1988 - played dates across the country. It is thought to be the first tour of its kind. Several performers have been brought back to life this way, including rapper Tupac Shakur and comedian Les Dawson. More recently, and using more advanced techniques, the group ABBA. These original performance-projections typically used a variation of 'Peppers Ghost', a Victorian illusion using a screen or mirror (shown below).
